By Jenny Overman - joverman@fortmilltimes.com FORT MILL -- As state health officials consider the Certificate of Need applications for each of the three proposed Fort Mill hospitals, the economic impact is one component of the plans being considered.
Piedmont Medical Center's proposal for a hospital in Fort Mill would pump a projected $4.1 million in taxes into the town of Fort Mill, the Fort Mill school district and York County. PMC's status as a for-profit hospital requires it to pay property taxes, which would net the town a projected $500,000 annually.
