The groans when Gov. Nikki Haley suggested cutting state money for S.C. ETV and the S.C. Arts Commission during her State of the State speech Wednesday hinted at the difficulty of cutting agencies with vocal backers.Fans of ETV and the Arts Commission will put up a fight, and they know how to battle.
When former Gov. Mark Sanford vetoed huge chunks of the agencies' state money last year, ETV's well-organized supporters went on a phone and e-mail campaign. And while organizing arts groups sometimes can be like herding cats, a contingent of Arts Commission advocates took to Facebook to pull together opposition to Sanford's veto as well.
