The store is the model for a new campaign that Goodwill hopes will change its perception from a thrift store to a preferred place to shop.
The new store will be 1922 Mt. Gallant Road, near the intersection with Celanese Road. Construction on the $2 million facility is expected to start in a couple of weeks with completion by July, said Bo Hussey, vice president, marketing and communications for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont.
The store will replace the current one at 717 Albright Road which opened in 1985.
Employees at the current store — between 20 and 25 people — will move to the new store, Hussey said.
