Website lends a hand to teachers seeking S.C. jobs - The Herald

Between scouring the Web for open teaching jobs, gathering details about the school systems and towns they're in, then actually applying, seeking work in education can be painstaking.
A new website, launched Wednesday, aims to ease the stress of job hunting in South Carolina for educators.
TeachSC.org puts tools and information in one place. Seekers can search a database of open jobs in the state's 85 school districts, learn about each district and apply for multiple positions and for certification to teach in South Carolina.
The Winthrop University-based Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement partnered with the college and the S.C. Department of Education to create the site.
Founders hope it helps make teaching in the Palmetto state more attractive by eliminating some of the stress of job hunting.
"That's right, you also only are required to submit one set of supplemental documents such as test scores, college transcripts, references and your teaching certificate. You're welcome," the site's About Us section reads.
"In these difficult times," CERRA spokesman Mychal Frost said, "you want to make things as easy as possible for people so they don't get more frustrated than they already are in this tough job market."
After filling out an application, a job seeker can choose which districts to send it to. District officials then get a notice that they have received it.
Openings featured on TeachSC.org will also be posted on the U.S. Department of Education's Teach.gov website, CERRA executive director Gayle Sawyer said.
